Certainly if the efforts of Canonical with Ubuntu are clearly focused on something there is no doubt that it is in the graphics. From edition to edition are shaping the appearance of trying to converge with OSX desktop. Discussions on this part, I believe in the scripts that have been developed fully successful. It was something that needed our desks. A modern typography, legible and makes a more rational use of space.

Typography Ubuntu is the default in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat and we can install in Ubuntu 10.04. If your system is Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx click here to install. If this fails, you can install it from a terminal (open with CTRL + ALT + T) and copy the following command:

sudo apt-get install ttf-ubuntu-font-family

After a few seconds will be ready for use. For example you can customize your desktop with it. Under System -> Preferences -> Appearance it will open a dialog box to configure the desktop appearance. The tab can change the fonts to be used for different items on the desktop. In the picture you can see are the fonts on my desk.
